Oklahoma…We Pray For You

Today my heart bleeds for the people of Oklahoma, they have been ravaged by the forces of a major hurricane. The lives of the fortunate have been disrupted, their homes completely destroyed, loved ones missing, injured or lost. Parents and children are no longer the coercive unit that they were before the event since a part of them is missing. But hope spring forth eternal.

Those spared will continue their lives and my prayer is that they will be stronger in the long run although there will always be holes in their heart. People are willing to reach out to those in need without the expectation of being paid back. This is where the true soul of mankind is exposed. Underneath the often unapproachable exterior of a neighbor lies a heart of pure gold. A willingness to help someone else in need is one of the benefits of this type of event, if it is possible to have a benefit when so many people are experiencing heart ache.

My earliest recollection of Oklahoma and in particular Oklahoma City, has for many years not been favorable, however that pales in comparison to what I feel for each and every person affected by this tragedy. I would not hesitate for one nanosecond to help these people. My prayers go out to each and every person affected. Prayers are great and do accomplish miracles, but to those of us who can do more it is incumbent on us to do so. Remember it is better to strike one match than to curse the darkness.

Let all of us work in concert to do what we can to sooth the hurt that has been afflicted on the people affected. Remember all of the people affected are not in the path of the storm. There are people all over the world that have connections to those in the wake of the tragedy. Let us not forget them as we focus on those in the path of destruction.
